Eco-anxiety and a Desire for Hope: A Discussion on Climate Change and Education
Description
In this workshop, we will draw upon a recent collaborative project that explores eco-anxiety and the impacts of climate change in environmental education. The project involved 11 experienced environmental educators who reflected on the emotional and affective aspects of climate change in their specific contexts. Six insights were derived from the educators' reflections, providing a heuristic for navigating the challenges of climate change.
Session Outline
This workshop will introduce the catalysts for the project before sharing and discussing some of the individual reflections. Following this, we discuss the insights from this project with the attendees, identifying which elements resonate with the educators in the audience. Overall, this workshop will be interactive, involving discussion and reflection on the topics of climate change education and eco-anxiety.
